Reviews for these releases were less positive critics felt the game had not aged well and ran at an inconsistent frame rate. Adventure was ported to the GameCube and Windows with altered graphics and more challenges in 2003, while a high-definition version was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010 and for Windows in 2011. A sequel, Sonic Adventure 2, was released in 2001. Many characters and concepts introduced in Adventure recur in later Sonic games. Journalists have retrospectively ranked Sonic Adventure among the best Sonic games, and it is recognized as an important release in both the series and the platform genre. Though critics noted glitches and camera problems, and reactions to the audio were mixed, critics considered Sonic Adventure an exceptional game some speculated that it could help re-establish Sega as the dominant console manufacturer after the unsuccessful Saturn. Reviewers considered Adventure a major technical advancement and praised the visuals and gameplay. It received critical acclaim and became the Dreamcast's bestseller, with 2.5 million copies sold by August 2006. The soundtrack was primarily composed by Jun Senoue, who preferred rock music over the electropop of previous Sonic games.įollowing its unveil at the Tokyo International Forum in August 1998, Sonic Adventure was highly anticipated, and it was released in Japan in December 1998 and worldwide in September 1999. Sonic Team attempted to demonstrate the technical prowess of the Dreamcast with realistic graphics and drew inspiration from locations in Peru and Guatemala. Adventure features a stronger emphasis on storytelling and role-playing elements in contrast to previous Sonic games, while Yuji Uekawa redesigned the series' characters for their transition to 3D. Led by director Takashi Iizuka and producer Yuji Naka, the team strove to reinvent Sonic for the 3D era of video games. Sonic Team began developing Sonic Adventure in 1997, after the cancellation of the Sega Saturn game Sonic X-treme. Outside the main game, players can play minigames like racing and interact with Chao, a virtual pet. Sonic Adventure retains many elements from prior Sonic games, such as power-ups and the ring-based health system. Controlling one of the six characters-each with their own special abilities-players explore a series of themed levels to progress through the story. The story follows Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Amy Rose, Big the Cat, and E-102 Gamma in their quests to collect the seven Chaos Emeralds and stop series antagonist Doctor Robotnik from unleashing Chaos, an ancient evil. In other words, this acceleration brings you that much closer to previewing your project as it will really look once rendered. And you’ll see higher frame rates even when you’ve applied effects, compositing, and other processor-intensive operations to your MP4 footage. That means you’ll see your video previews at the true frame rate more often, even at higher preview quality settings. Also, we’ve again concentrated our efforts on the popular MP4 format, so that with the update one version of VEGAS Pro 15 on QSV enabled systems, you will see significant performance improvements when reading most flavors of MP4. Again, we turn to QSV to speed things up. This time, those improvements are on the reading side instead of the rendering side. We’ve already released a very robust update, and among other things, that update features more speed improvements. Just because VEGAS Pro 15 has been released doesn’t mean we’ve stopped working on it. While those render speed improvements are great, we didn’t stop there. That’s half the time spent rendering those videos for YouTube and anywhere else you need to deliver an MP4! There’s more to come… In our tests, we’ve seen rendering speeds up to two times as fast with both technologies. And these are results you can directly compare to previous render times. ![]() Second, users with computers equipped with later versions of Intel Quick Sync Video (QSV) – specifically, Intel Skylake or newer processors for 8-bit AVC encoding – will also see speed improvements. First, those of you with modern NVIDIA graphics cards – specifically GeForce 600 series onward (6xx, 7xx, 9xx, 10xx) and Quadro Kxxx, Mxxx and Pxxx – can now take advantage of acceleration through NVENC technology. Hardware acceleration for NVIDIA graphics cards and Intel Skylake processorsĪs our initial step, we’ve implemented two different types of hardware acceleration when rendering to the MAGIX AVC/AAC MP4 format. So you spend less time – significantly less time – waiting for your renders to complete. That means render speeds up to two times as fast. Now with the new version, we offer you render times that can be as much as half as long as your render times in previous versions. So, with version 15, we focused on one of the most important – AVC/AAC MP4 – so that the improvements could benefit the largest number of users right from the start. HEVC rendering was new to that version, so you had fast rendering right out of the gate.īut that still left a lot of long render times for other formats. Let’s be clear: not all formats are technically able to benefit from hardware acceleration, but we knew we could make significant and noticeable strides with some formats. Those speeds didn’t make much of a splash because you had nothing to compare them to. In VEGAS Pro 14, we introduced hardware-accelerated HEVC rendering for both 8-bit and 10-bit rendering. When we took over production of VEGAS Pro nearly a year and a half ago, nothing was closer to the top of our priority list than this. We know it’s been a long time coming for true improvements in the area of hardware acceleration for rendering in VEGAS Pro. Well, that being the truth, then you will be thrilled with the new render speeds of VEGAS Pro 15! Render times up to two times as fast Everyone would be ecstatic to cut the time it takes to do annoying-but-necessary tasks in half. How would you feel if the next time you needed to make that Berlin trip you went to buy a ticket and the nice man said, “Oh, I can get you there in just six hours and three minutes.” Or the lady at the DMV came to you and said, “Sir, if you stand in this line, I’ll get you out of here in an hour.” Who wouldn’t be thrilled at speeds twice as fast and waiting times half as long? That’s right, no one. You might stand in line for two hours waiting for your turn. Or, let’s say you need to renew your driver’s license down at the local Division of Motor Vehicles. ![]() If you had to make that trip regularly – say every week or so – the time spent in the air would really begin to grate on your nerves. You’d need to be in the air for 12 hours and six minutes. Let’s say you needed to travel from Los Angeles to Berlin. ![]() ![]()
![]() If it were some free community built development I might show more interest but big prices and a learning curve for what? If something is going to get me away from SU now, it's going to have to try harder. Many drafting programs have come and gone in the years I've been in this industry, none ever beat Autocad. It took years for me to finally feel comfortable enough to move over. I have an entire process for doing my job in SketchUp and I just migrated that from Autocad in the last year. No words about hatching, 2D detail cataloging, architectural dimension tools and standards. one screen shot of a drafting detail that frankly looks quite messy. I don't see anything there that impresses me in the least. I download what slick advertising shows me is worth my time. I know that's a novel feature that SketchUp users are not used to having access to, but believe me it is worth the price of admission for that alone. ![]() form.z is light years ahead of SketchUp in most ways and catching up rapidly in the few ways it's not (Layout). Yes, it is more expensive than SketchUp Pro at $910 USD (through a 3rd party, checked earlier today), but the features don't even compare. Obviously you have not been following form.z, but they are pretty far along on their own built in version of "Layout"-style construction drawings. For pure modelers that are only interested in making games, movies or renders and especially organics then those programs are great, for designing, building in 3D and then documenting for construction they can't compete. ![]() So if you’re not the DIY type, we recommend looking for a wireless doorbell cam. This means you’ll have to connect it to your existing doorbell wiring, which can be a pain in the you-know-what if you don’t know what you’re doing. These doorbell cameras are hardwired - not wireless (battery-powered) like most brands available. One of our biggest gripes with SkyBell is the installation process. This allows you to try out the product and service before committing long-term. Note that SkyBell also offers free shipping, but this is standard for the industry.ĭid You Know: Video doorbell brands that require a subscription usually offer a 14-day or 30-day money-back guarantee. So it’s a one-and-done payment of $199, and that’s it, you’ll be able to keep a hawk-eye on any visitors approaching your palace. But in our experience, SkyBell is nipping at the heels of Ring.Īnother thing to keep in mind is that SkyBell doesn’t have any monthly subscription costs, activation fees, or other hidden fees to worry about. Sure, Ring is cheaper with more doorbell cameras to choose from. That said, we do think the cost is very reasonable for what you get. So when we say this brand offers limited products, we mean it! But as you can see, the SkyBell HD and SkyBell Trimline Plus are basically the same product, at the same price point, only with a different design. SkyBell Doorbell Cameras SkyBell Doorbell Camerasĭon’t worry, that was just a lighting-round as far as features go. Still, we think you’ll like what we found during our in-depth research and testing of SkyBell. For instance, they are hardwired-only devices, there are only two options to choose from, and they aren’t exactly cheap (but… you get what you pay for). Needless to say, we think the features are a-plenty.īut there were things we didn’t love about the SkyBell HD and the SkyBell Trim Plus video doorbells. We also liked that these doorbell cams come with HD video quality, color night vision, 5x zoom, home automation integrations, and smartphone controls. We recently got our hands on SkyBell video doorbells, and overall, we liked the way they secured our entryway and added a dash of smart home convenience to our lives. A score of 17.5 points is enough to earn the title Top Product Malwarebytes Premium and a few others scored 17.5. Just over half the products in the latest report scored a perfect 18 points, among them Microsoft, Norton AntiVirus Plus, and Kaspersky. This lab rates antivirus products in three categories, Protection, Performance, and Usability, with six points available for each. Its scores have varied quite a bit, but it looks quite good in the latest report. More recently, Malwarebytes has been showing up in reports from AV-Test Institute. In the past, Malwarebytes didn’t submit even its Premium edition to most of the labs I follow. A lab test that uses outdated samples could make the product look bad. This emphasis on active, prevalent threats and advanced detection methods makes testing Malwarebytes tough. The anti-ransomware engine strictly uses behavioral detection. Exploit protection watches attack vectors and heads off exploits. In Malwarebytes Premium, machine learning and detection of anomalous behavior catch many malware samples. Every successful antivirus adds heuristic detection, behavior-based detection, and other non-signature protection layers. Simple-minded signature-based malware detection alone isn't enough in the modern world of zero-day attacks and polymorphic malware. The free version is full of subtle and not-so-subtle suggestions to spring for the upgrade to Premium. It does just one thing it cleans up existing malware problems. In particular, the free edition, reviewed here, doesn't include any real-time protection. If you let the trial expire without upgrading, you'll find that you lose quite a few features. When you install the free edition, you can choose a 14-day trial of Malwarebytes Premium. Version 2 came out a couple years before that. ![]() The release of version 4 in 2019 was the first whole-number update since version 3 in 2016. While many security companies release product updates every year, Malwarebytes only does so when necessary. It can't help with attacks that do permanent damage, such as ransomware, but it's a handy tool when other approaches fail. Malwarebytes Free exists to wipe out attackers that get past your main defenses or that already compromised your PC before you could install protection. Or you might have an existing malware infestation that prevents installation of any full-scale antivirus. Some zero-day innovative malware attack might elude your protection, and then disable it.
